17/06/2006 - Unit - Car Boot Sale
The ideal way to do a Spring clean and make some money for the Group. As well as stalls and other attarctions we are asking parents, leaders and friends of the Group to either come with a car and sell their stuff (all proceeds going to our 80th birthday event) or just come along and buy some thing. 19/08/2005 - Unit - Ben Nevis Trip
The Ben Nevis Challenge comes to a peak on Friday August 19th when 60+ Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, a Parents Patrol & Leaders will climb the highest mountain in England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales.

Fri 19th = Travel
Sat 20th = Climb
Sun 21st = Fall back day / Activities
Mon 22nd = Travel home

10/06/2005 - Unit - Ben Nevis Training Hike No. 4
The Final training hike will cover a full weekend and is being run by The DRC - Donnybrook Rover Crew.

Friday June 10th to Sun 12th is your last chance to qualify for Ben Nevis - so be there! The Craic will be legend as we stroll and swim in the June heat(!!). The walking will be demanding and rumour has it that we might be attacking The Lug! The weekend will also include a final gear check. Venturers remember that one of your two qualification hikes must be an overnighter.

15/04/2005 - Unit - Ben Nevis Training Hike No. 3
Its the turn of the Venturers, the notorious DVG, to get us all safely up & down the mountains over the 15th & 16th of April.

This is our first overnight training hike so squeeze it in before exam fever grips us. The plan is to walk for a while on Friday 15th, camp or bivvy that night and then walk through Saturday 16th & head home that evening. No doubt DVG will have a surprise or two up their sleeves. Not to be missed! Venturers remember that one of your two qualification hikes must be an overnighter. All Ben Nevis hopefuls must have hiking boots/trekking shoes by this hike.

06/03/2005 - Unit - Ben Nevis Training Hike No. 2
The 3rd Scout Troop have a dinger of a hike planned for us that is guaranteed to stretch the muscles.

Sunday March 6th we will all be together again for our second Ben Nevis qualification hike. For those that missed the last fantastic hike remember you have to complete a number of hikes to come to Ben Nevis. Don't forget your hiking boots!

23/01/2005 - Unit - Ben Nevis Training Hike No. 1
The 40th Scout troop are organsising the first in a series of 4 training hikes that will qualify paticipants to climb Ben Nevis later in the year.

Sunday the 23rd will see Scouts from the 3rd & 40th troops, Venturers, Rovers, Leaders and other interested individuals head for the hills for a day of demanding walking to get us in shape for the challenge of Ben Nevis.

16/01/2005 - Unit - Tsunami Sandymount Coastal Walk
A group of Unit parents from the Sandymount area are organising a walk on Sunday Jan. 16th to support fellow coastal dwellers of South East Asia. The plan is to meet at the Martello Tower on Sandymount Strand at 2pm and stroll towards Irishtown nature park. Venturers & Rovers will be shaking collection buckets on the day. Please spread the word, show up on the day with some friends and enjoy a gentle trek for a great cause.

09/01/2005 - Unit - Unit Ice Skating
This Sunday morning, January 9th has been finalised for our annual Ice Skating session. The ice rink have given us a great deal for the hour so see you there.

07/10/2004 - Unit - Peru Expedition Night
A 'Perusal' of the photos, videos and stories that tell the story of the Venturers recent expedition to Peru. The use of the Mansion House has been donated by the Lord Mayor. The invites are in the post.
